Food service is one of the popular field in SSW visa category from Nepal. In this category a candidate perform tasks in restaurant and hotel. A candidate willing to apply in Food service should be able to perform task such as food preparation, customer services and store management. The basic requirement to apply in Food service sector from Nepal is :-

    1. JFT Basic – N4
    2. The Food Service Industry Proficiency Test Exam.

Examination Fee

The Food Service Industry Proficiency Test exam fee is USD 33.

Language Proficiency level

N4 Pass.

Test type

Computer Based Testing (CBT).

Test time

70 minutes

Test format

A candidate has to pass JFT- Basic test and skill test in order to be eligible to work in Food Service sector.

There are 2 types of test which are mentioned below:-

    1. Academic Test – This test is related to hygiene management, general customer service and Japanese language test.

Exam format


    • Hygiene management                                –              10 questions in Japanese.


    • Food and beverage preparation                 –              10 questions in Japanese.


    • General customer service                            –              10 questions in Japanese.

2. Practical Test– A candidate, technical level required for work is measured by using diagrams, illustrations in this test.

Exam format


    • Hygiene management                                   –              5 questions in Japanese.


    • Food and beverage preparation                    –              5 questions in Japanese.


    • General customer service                             –              5 questions in Japanese.

The number of questions in total is 45 questions, as mentioned above.
